I would bet that you could find some thermal tape that would seal up most of the leaks around the intake. It would be helpfull if you could do some OBDII testing to check before / after IATs.

Hmm, that's a great idea, I might try that - thanks Gernby! I would love to do the OBDII testing, but I don't have a scan tool...
I posted a video on youtube here. I'll have to edit my initial review to include the video. The dynograph can be seen here. It's not a comparison before/after dynograph, just a new baseline after I installed the K&N and Tanabe.

ok, just wandering, how much is the k&n and where can i buy it online? Im pretty sure I have seen a price but not sure where at now, there are so many threads on this forum but most of them are pretty helpful, also, is there any way that the stock air box will fit on the k&n tube? thanks for the help guys!

If you mean attaching the K&N intake pipe to the stock air box the answer is no. The pipe is too long to have the stock air box attached to it. The cheapest I found the K&N typhoon intake was at this site http://www.4filters.com/view_cart.asp I think its at $231.00 including shipping. Hope I was able to answer your questions. Good Luck!
