Thanx for the info. I was looking into some OBX headers but I was a little skeptical about them because they were on eBay. I started a thread about them before to see if people thought they were good or not.

I wouldnt worry about the headers being on Ebay. If you search around for OBX headers you will find someone that paid like $400 from a company. So for less than $300 you cant go wrong. I sold the Y-pipe for $50 to a buddy of mine so for a little over $200 is a great deal for the increase in HP and TQ.

How much increase in power and torque would an I-6 get from headers alone? I mean looking at my headers on my gs-3 they don't look that bad and there not to different looking from aftermarket headers.

The cats are gone for one. I remember somewhere that it will add 12hp at the wheels. The price performance ratio is real nice with the headers.

The stock headers flow isn't so great. Also there are cats. TWO of them. Now....better flow+zero cats= HP!

Why sell the Ypipe? Was it no good? Similar to stock? Will not produce any gains?

Just wondering.

So how much do the emissions suffer since the cats are removed?

Mostly because it was too short. None of the exhaust places in AL could extend it for a reasonable amount either.

Also, with the Y pipe replacement.. you get rid of the "3rd cat" (Afterburner)

What does removing the cats do? Does it allow the air to flow more freely? I'm assuming the cats cause some kind of restriction.

Kane, a header, in and of itself, is only going to make things unappealing if they are thin and have leaks. it's the Cats, resonators and mufflers and pipe size that will determine the sound quality way more than the headers alone.

I think you should get the header, just make sure you get a quality one.
With my 430 I ran open S&S header for fun, man it sounded bad a$$. It was like japan meets nascar!!!!

Performance-wise....did the headers help?

What about gas mileage? Any increase in mpg?

Thanks!!

I doubt adding performance parts is going to improve your gas mileage. It's kind of an oxymoron.
