i was thinking about getting the 14829 magnaflow mufflers but i dont want to spend the money if all i'm going to do is make the car louder. So my question is will these give better flow than stock, and if not what's the best performance exhaust. I'm not expecting anything drastic, but i would like a little more oomph. i did a search and only found exhaust sound, not performance so any info would be a lot of help. thanks
With stock exhaust manifolds and Y pipe do not expect to gain ANY measurable power/performance gain from a center back exhaust or muffler only change.
If you plan on other mods for more power, if you like the look, if you want to change the sound... go for it. Otherwise???
Are you sure about that? The magnaflows are a staight through design unlike stock. It is also lighter too. I have them and I notice more power in the upper rev range. I've seen a show called hot rod television on spike tv, and they tested the magnaflows for a corvette c5. With the swap from stock, the vette gained 11 horses. Why not the gs?
The cost vs the gain isn't worth it. An nice manderel bent exhaust might cost $300-400 with all parts and labor and get you 3HP, but an SRT intake for $400 will get you 25HP..
so basically it's a waste unless i'm going full cat-back? it makes sense but i just wanted to be sure... i was thinking about the srt intake but everyone seems to think there isnt much for gains unless you do it with an exhaust. maybe ill just do the intake instead. thanks
Lvangundy, thanks for the compliment. it's tough getting started in this field(just got out of school), but everyone tells me ill be alright, so well see..
I have them and felt a loss of power but now that I have had them for a while now the car seems to rip off the line faster than stock and that was with regular crush bending
I am thinking of having it redone with mandrel bending for better air flow....

I noticed a difference on my SC4 when I went from crush to mandel
