What, (if any) modifications would I need to boost the Gs300, up to the Gs400 hp level (w/o a turbo ). I am assuming it would be just under 300 hp because of the difference in engineweight?

Without a turbo... what about a supercharger. You could also get there with NOS

But to tell you the truth, a V8 is a V8. Is you can fix up the Inline 6 engine to be as good and even faster than the V8 but the feeling of a V8 is a V8. I think the torque at higher speeds is different too, the driving experience is a bit different.

If you want to add 80hp via N/A tune on the GS300 it's going to be really hard. Maybe if you get a custom intake and custom exhaust and custom everything and custom Air/Fuel/Ignition settings and VVTi controlling then maybe. N/A tune won't give you that much difference, especially that the cost will build up, eventually surpassing that of getting a turbo or SC.

Thanks globe...Insurance on the gs400 is $3400/yr
gs300 is $2600/yr; I was hoping to get the gs300 and upgrade with the extra money from insurence, but it looks like i just have to deal with the high insurance rates.

If a car's price directly affects the insurance rate, then the Impreza WRX would be a good choice to have the rates down while having a very fast car. But I don't know if they turbo will kick the price of the insurance up.

But Imprezas are no GSs.
