really only 300 rpm? that's nothing. I thought it took top speed from 150 to like 130.

I heard top speed with 3.76 is reduced to around 130 - 135. But that dosen't bother me since I call it quits much much sooner. I think the increased performance in the 0 to sane speeds far outways
the 149 mph insane speed our gs is capable of.

Smile 3.76 Lsd

You know if I had to pick between the 3.76 LSD and the Dragon Torqueconverter I'd take the 3.76 LSD without a doubt. It is so much fun and works wonders in all gears at all speeds. Plus it is a real blast to hammer it going around a corner.

The TC is just fun blasting off in a straight line and I have found it presents some traction issues, especially on curves that might be a little bit wet.

Here is the cheapest place that I know of to get one right now new

Alright. I'm probably going to sound really stupid, but I have to ask. I've always read these LSD/TC threads (and there have been quite a few) and I honestly thought that you had to do both mods together. After reading this thread, it seems pretty clear that you can install the LSD without the TC. Can you install a TC without the LSD? What is the advantage to doing one, or the other, or both?

whats up e-
the LSD just changes the rearend gearing and the way the rear end grabs in turns

The TC allows trans to slip to higher rpm before fully engaging

Hey Chuck. Thanks. So how does the LSD work with the traction control on? It is my understanding that if the LSD senses slippage on one side, it basically transfers power to the other side, so, in effect, both wheels are spinning as opposed to just the one. If the traction control kicks in right away, how can the LSD do its job?

3.76 LSD goes 0-60 faster than stock by about a half a second, plus better traction as both rear wheels get power

TC goes 0-60 faster than stock by about a half a second

Together you don't get a full second faster 0-60.
It comes out to about .08 second faster than stock, which will put you in the low 5 second range.
In order to go faster than that you need a Turbo or Supercharger.

You can do either or both.

I see RMM increased their price another 50 bucks from 2 months ago. At this rate they won't be selling too many .

Okay. I can understand how the TC can increase 0-60 times because, in effect, with the stall properly set, the car is in the height of the power band for most of the acceleration curve. Here's what I don't understand. How is it that the LSD can improve 0-60 times? But, before you answer that question, here's why I ask. When I have my 17s on, from a standstill with the VSC off, I cannot spin the tires at all. Going around a corner, well that's another story. But, off the line on dry pavement, the tires stick like glue. If all the LSD does is distribute the power to the other wheel when it detects slippage, how can it increase the 0-60 time if there is no slippage in the first place? Am I making sense here?

e-it's the gear ratio change. the car revs quicker. just like if you tried to start out a manual trans in second gear instead of first, it would have weak acceleration. the higher rear end gear in lsd has the opposite effect(quicker)

Thanks, Chuck. Now it makes sense to me. So I'm not sure what the 3.76 number means, but it's larger than the stock diff., which is like 3.2 something. So, in effect, the gears are taller/larger, which means they can spin easier. What does the 3.76 refer to? Is that the tallest gear (i.e., 1st gear) or the smallest (overdrive)? And, if that number does refer to one particular gear, how can you tell the size of the other gears from that number?

like others have explained, they can coexist no problem, they work separate. in general they both make the car fast, and they together will make the car much faster

the lsd makes the car rev up faster through the rpm and shift into the next gear faster, so of course it makes the car a lot faster

with the tc and lsd, i can chirp my 20s throughout the firsrt gear at will
