Default Help - GS300 is throwing CEL and VSC...

Hey guys... new(er) guy here...

Here's my situation:

Tonight I changed the plugs/wires on my 1998 GS300. I know the 2J very well, and gelt competent in completing this task. It was an easy, albeit long, process, but I got it finished with new factory-spec plugs and wires. I replaced my coilpacks, plugged everything back in, and rechecked. The car was fine for about 5 minutes, then it threw the Check Engine Light, then, after turning it off and back on, the VSC and VSC/OFF lights came on. I unplugged the control switch in the center console, and plugged it back in, then rechecked my connections to the VSC control motor (whatever that junk is on top of the valvecovers next to the throttlebody/intake... No problems whatsoever...

I'm clueless... but, I did do this tune up (and pulled the harnesses for the sensors) with the battery terminals still attached. Did this cause anything that may be the source of my problems?

If someone could answer this, I'd really appreciate it, as I'm totally stuck!

Thanks in Advance!

JPI-

Hey thanks for the response! Well, I pulled the leads on the battery terminals, and let the car sit. I then checked all connections, and reinstalled the battery - guess what? No more CEL or VSC lights. I'm going to go for a drive in a min, but I think that my problem was solved. I believe that the car threw the codes because my buddy was messing around under the dash, and had to turn the ignition to KEY:ON to check something... so of course I didn't have the throttlebody, or anything else connected...

The car seems fine, but if it acts up again, I'll PM you with some more info.

Thanks again!

Well, actually it threw the CEL light again - it's the front 02 sensor heater... that's really annoying because I was quoted $245 to replace it! What is that about? Can I use the 02 sensor from another 2J-GE car? If so, that would really help. It also threw a code for "Coolent Temp Sensor". What should I do here, as I have just flushed the coolant with Toyota Red, and done a complete tuneup... then it threw the codes after the tuneup (I have again rechecked all connections, etc...)

Thanks for your help!
