do it at any mechanics shop that uses canned oil(not recycle). Bring them the lexus filter. The GS takes more than 5 quarts, so you can throw that 18.99 deal out the window. You don't need lexus oil, thats all bullcrap. If you want synthetic...just get mobil 1.

I just paid 29.99 for oil/filter/car wash/loaner.....

Of course I did have the trans done at the same time, but for an oil change, you can't really go wrong!

canned and bottled are the same. Recycled is the stuff that they pump into your car from a big tank the place has in the back. Synthetic oil is self explanatory...it is synthetic(hand made). It is thicker and supposidly increases the life of the engine. I do my oil changes every 2500 miles personally but thats b/c i have over 100k miles and i do them myself.

I change my own oil. I go to Walmart. Buy a 5 quart Mobile 1, 5W30 and a quart, and a Fram oil filter. Synthetic last up to 5K. I usually change the oil every 3K.

I never knew this either. Last time I took my GS for service at Lexus of Tampa I got it back with a 3 inch gash on my back bumper. I also noticed swirling on the paint so I now I just skip the wash.

All thats used at the dealership is Castrol 5w-30 and mobil 1 if requested. There is no "Lexus" oil.

Man you guys must be loaded. Buying synthetic oil and changing it at 3K miles!?!? Heck you could probably still sell your old oil for $10 lol. The whole point of synthetic oil is better protection with LONGER drain/change internals.

I run Amsoil synthetic severe duty oil for about 8-10k miles between changes. It's rated to go 35k between oil changes under normal driving conditions and 25k under severe duty. I consider my driving habit more than severe....it's EXXXTRREEME!
