Default gs 400 2nd gear ?

the other day i had the gs gated in second. (unaware) i entered the frewway and opened her up to merge. since i was still in second once i got up around 50 or so the car seems to go into some safety cut off? is that a speed limiter? im pretty sure this is normal since 2nd gear on the freeway isnt to good for the car? anyone know about this? i remember seeing a pic on cl with a gs gated in 2nd and the speedometer read like 80mph. can anyone shed some light on this that has a gs400 1998 - 2000. this is really botherring me, hope nothing is wrong. its happend a few times before also. thanx for any help!!!

El,

Once you hit beyond redline, the GS kicks in a 'rev limiter' which basically keeps the engine from revving any higher. The engine surges and fades very rapidly, sounds like its misfiring badly, but that's just the electronics backing the engine down from the revs.

Nothing is wrong, working as designed.

always the case, you just havt o learn when to upshift. if you press the bottom right before it hits redline, you will hit the limiter for sure. you need time for the comptuer to shift, specially when you are at full throttle
