As in annoyingly loud and ricey sounding? Or does it even remotely sound like the V8 rumble of the american muscle cars? I know it cannot sound like that because the GS has a completely different type of engine, but what I am more interested in a deep and powerful rumble sound. Similar to the modern Mustang Cobra GT which has newer technology engine. I think it is 4.6 Liter Northstar engine? That sound is what I am looking for.

it's not rice sound, pretty low drum but overall it's very loud. to me the problem is that i am hearing way too much of the exhaust when driving, that could be very irritating

Hameed- having owned both exhaust systems, I just prefer my Greddy Evo2 over the HKS. Now don't get me wrong, i loved the way my HKS sounded- I just like the Greddy more. Performance-wise, I guess that's negligible, I picked up maybe 4 hp with the switch to the true cat-back. It's a matter of personal preference i suppose. But the Greddy is not obnoxiously loud by no means. I guess the term loud is relative, b/c to me it's not as loud as Romini is suggesting it to be (no offense to you Rom, just my opinion bud) The cabin noise at cruising speed with the Greddy may be a little more noticeable than with the HKS, and it's not that it's louder, to me it's just a different note. I'd even venture to say that at WOT the Greddy may even be tad quieter.

I've been told the EVO2 is more of a european sports car V8 sound as opposed to an american muscle car V8, but then again we only have a 4 liter engine as opposed to 5L in those mustangs and vettes. Now if you want that sound and really want to turn some heads, then you can get a custom straight dual exhaust made like what i did with my EVO2 a few months ago, but I'm not sure if that's what you'd want it was loud alright, and the majority of people around here loved it, but i live here in the south so you may not get the same reception up north

Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with either setup! Do a search on my exhaust mpegs, i know you've seen them before, but maybe that will help you in your decision making process.

Thanks Dr. G! I think I will stick to the HKS Hyper - it sounds more and more of what I am looking for.

I did remember reading your story about how your Greddy Evo install was messed up the first time by the exhaust shop.

I will do a search for your exhaust mpegs too now.!

Cool

Hi Hameed as you know I have the HKS Hyper and love the sound ! I also had the L-Tuned in the beginning but wanted a little more deeper tone and got it with the HKS. At cruising speeds you can barely here it unless of course you accelerate therefore shifting to a lower gear. What I really like to hear is at WOT the agressive sound the exhaust makes especially with my RMM intake combo. It really gives you the feel that you are driving a sports car when you want to hear it and has a low rumble at low speeds. Furthermore the canisters are stainles steel, they dont drag when I go up steep drive ways and it fits my L-sportline bumper cut outs perfectly. Price wise $566 is a good price. I know I paid more for mine when I bought them 2 years ago.

Good luck

Al

Thanks for the feedback Al. I will definitely be getting this when the time comes (ie when there are some $'s to spare)

Thanks T.L.W.
I just read his feedback and it appears that this exhaust is quieter than the L-tuned. I already have the L-tuned and I think it is too tame...........

I have the HKS Hypers as well, and am an owner and lover of musclecars. I can't see for the life of me how anyone would ever be disappointed with the HKS sound.

I think I had a post here recently that was titled "GS400 vs M3" or something like that. There should be a link to a video file. The camera was inside the car, and there is some music playing, but, at one point in the video you can get a feel for the 'tone' inside the car when accelerating quickly from a stop.

I too have the HKS HiPower exhaust, and love it. Granted, I only had the stock mufflers prior, so I can't really compare the sound quality to anything else, but I am very pleased with the low growl it provides...definitely what I think my v8 should be sounding like. BTW, I purchased mine used off of ebay for $350 (only because I couldn't afford to purchase it brand new).

I searched for this thread but could not find it.............

Do you still have the link to the video somewhere? I would love to hear the HKS Hyper exhaust!

The set I picked up was a steal, and while they had some minor scratches on the bottom, its nothing a little polish and buffing shouldnt be able to take care of. Prior to purchasing this set, Ive seen the HKS Mufflers show up a few times from seperate sellers over the past 3 months on ebay..I was just never in a financial position to buy them then. I'm definitely happy that I got them for this price though. Good luck, and I hope you're able to find a good set (on ebay or elsewhere).
