mtrappo - "i installed an SRT intake that comes w/ an ECU. To my knowledge you need to upgrade or at least reprogram your ECU when you have an intake for it to work properly. I heard w/ out an ECU upgrade the check engine light will come on."

my intake shud be coming in this week...what will i need to do to install and what additional parts do ineed for it to run without any headaches? thanx

first, unplug your battery (at the top where the cables come in, not sure if + or - though). wait 30 mins (at least 20 though). install the intake, plug cable back in. the DRIVE IT HARD. not sure how long though. you should be good.

30 mins? WTF? More like 5 mins or less. If you don't wanna unplug your battery, pull out your EFI fuse in the fusebox for the same amount of time and it will reset the ECU and you wont lose your time or stations. Plus there's no reason to drive it hard. Drive it normally.

you sure about the not driving hard thing? someone [alot of is300.net members] mentioned that we have a 'learning' ecu and that it adapts to our driving... ?? so i've always driven hard after a 3 minute ecu reset.

Yes we do have a learning ECU, but driving it hard for a few miles doesn't mean it will maximize it's settings for the mods.
