Default RPM's and shift points

I am starting to learn how to drive my manual swapped car in more of a race appropriate way. Up to this point I've been breaking things in and making minor adjustments etc. Getting use to things overall. The gearing on the CD009/JK41A is very short and difficult to get use too. I think the 3.92's make it even worse causing a pretty high revving engine and rpms in most cases, and the need for careful shifts. I've already found out the hard way that downshifting to 3rd while doing around 50mph threw the rpms to max and was a bad very move. 4th is still underdrive and 5th is 1:1. So I'll be doing a lot of rolling pulls from these gears I guess. I'm still nowhere near finding the sweet spot for launching rpm. I have a lot of getting use to the downshifting and rev matching as well.

Right now my biggest concern is what rpm should I be aiming for while making a WOT pull. On the OEM tachometer, the red line starts at 6,500rpm. The 264 cams I have installed has raised my effective RPM to 7,200. That is where the tuner said it makes power too on the dyno anyway and his top end tuning was set up to that point. Does this mean I should be aiming for 7,200 on every shift or is that dangerous for the engine? That tuner is long gone now and I have no idea where cutout was set too or if it was even set, and I don't want to push it that hard to find out.

You don't have a dyno sheet of your tune? Fastest will be shifting at the point were the min-max rpm spread maxes out the area under the dyno sheet curve.

No unfortunately I don’t have the dyno sheet. I guess I will just have to get use to feeling where the torque falls off and shift before that. I’m sure I can get use to what’s there eventually. It’s hard with these crazy short gears. I’m honestly thinking about swapping for the GS400 3.26 ring and pinion.
