OBD II Asleep?
OBD II Asleep?
I have a 1998 SC300 that ran fine. I needed to clean the battery terminals, so I had disconnected the battery for one hour. Afterward, I started it up, and it obviously misfired for about 2 minutes; then it settled down and ran OK. The question is, why didn’t OBD II turn on a check engine light? I checked with an OBD II scanner and found no codes. What caused this misfire, and why was OBD asleep in this situation????
I have run the car 10 miles since then without problem.
(Note that the check engine system worked as it should, months ago, with an 1120 code)
