Water pump replacement requires timing belt removal?
I spent some time searching the forum but couldn't find a definitive answer. Is there a way to replace the water pump on a SC300 without removing the timing belt?
It doesn't appear that you can, but just wanted to verify before I get started on this project.
After spending time looking at numerous youtube videos you must remove the lower timing chain cover, which requires removal of the crank pulley. The timing belt is 5 years old but only has 15K miles on it. The indy shop didn't do the water pump when replacing the timing belt and now it's leaking. What a waste.
I'm going to go ahead and replace the cam and crank seals and the hydraulic tensioner along with the timing belt.
