Default P0340 after a Timing Belt/Water Pump Change.

After a timing belt & water pump change I go to start her up and a P0340 code pops up. All the markings line up on the cams and crank. Car starts and runs. Anyone ever have that issue after a timing change or is it just a coincidence my distributor is starting to go out and the check light is more of a warning before it really dies? I already order a new distributor assembly so if it fixes then good, but if it doesn't well I have a new distributor but problem still won't be solved. What could it be you think? Would skipping a tooth cause this? Car starts right up. Drove all day today but I didn't want to drive it hard and make problems worst. Need help. Thanks.
