Default Intermittent no start,spark related

'93 sc400 with 237k miles on her. I bought this car about 6 months ago to just drive around town. It ran great when purchased minus the burned out gauge cluster and radio display. $400 later those issues were resolved. Started acting up right away with a warm no start condition. After I performed the fuel ecu bypass all was well. Now, the car will start one day, and just crank and crank the next. Check engine light illuminates when key is turned on, so the ecu is getting power . I tested for spark and it is not getting any, until the next day when it decides it wants to fire up. any suggestions or experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Also, directly after cleaning the throttle body and replacing the gasket the car holds onto first gear. I have to rev it out almost to redline for it to want to shift. I adjusted the kick down cable every which way and still no change. Transmission fluid is red in color and appears to be clean. I love this car, however it has been just sitting because of how unreliable it is.

Cliffs:
-Intermittent no spark condition
-Ecu is getting power
-Fuel pressure is present
-Holds onto first gear until redline after throttle body cleaning and kick down cable adjustment

Ecu looked just fine upon a visual inspection, no leaking capacitors or anything like that. Is it possible it is still bad with no visual signs of fatigue? I saw another thread very similar to mine and apparently the fix was a new efi relay. Any thoughts?

*edit*
When I turn the key to the on position I hear 8 to 10 consecutive clicks from a relay in the under hood fuse box. This happens every time. Just trying to provide as much information as possible so hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks!

Yeah the Ecu can be bad without you being able to tell visually.

The EFI relay is only in control of the electronic fuel injectors so it shouldn't affect the transmissions shifting or spark.

Try and identify the relay that seems to be clicking 8-10 times when you turn the key and maybe we can go from there because that's not normal.
