From what I hear, the bellhousing on the SC3 auto is totally different to the bellhousing on the SC4 auto. However, CRS make one:

BH 106 Quad Cam V8 Toyota to Turbo Supra/Coaster
BH 106A Quad Cam V8 Toyota to Supra
BH 106B Quad Cam V8 Toyota to Toyota steel case 4, 5 sp
BH 106C Quad Cam V8 Toyota to GM Muncie, Saginaw, T10
BH 106D Quad Cam V8 Toyota to Toploader, Single Rail

I believe BH106A is for you. I am keen to find out what BH106 is. Hopefully it is the R154. If it is, I'M THERE. However, I have the transmission for the Coaster (a minibus) as M155. Dunno what that is. I don't know any Supra with this box in it. I'll have to get off my butt one day and call them. First though, I gotta get my engine back together and my car registered.

So what's the estimated total cost for the whole she-bang?

Pedal assembly, fork, bearing, clutch assembly, bell housing, tranny, and labor.

Yikes.

i doubt it tho.

Depends on what price the parts are over there. Over here, $4000 Australian would be a decent price. That's about 2600 USD. Breakdown would be something like this:

Gearbox 500
Bellhousing 600
Pedal box 600
Shifter 600
Driveshaft 750?
Crossmember 500? (maybe modify the auto one though)
Labour and assorted stuff 500

Remember, the only W58 shifter that will probably work is either off a SC3 or maybe a NA 5sp Supra. The price I am quoting is for the TRD short shifter. With cheaper parts, you could do this thing a lot cheaper - eg if you got the tranny, crossmember (it should fit), pedal box, maybe driveshaft and shifter out of a wrecked manual SC3, maybe you could do it for half that price if you got lucky.

Labor only $500? I have a source for wrecked SCs and ISes (would the IS300 5-speed work just the same???), but I'm currently at odds with the guy. Looks like I'll have to earn some brownie points from here on out. I could probably buy a junk title SC300 5-speed with black interior, and kill a few birds with one stone: 5-speed, black interior, refreshed worn parts, etc. Problem is the price on junk title cars varies by auction. Sometimes they're $800, sometimes they're $8000.

I'm talking labor = $500 where you do most of it yourself, but allow $500 for times when you have to have a pro do something for you. I doubt the IS would work the same. I believe it has the 2JZGE, but I would doubt the shifter is in the same place. Plus it could be more expensive anyway. And the crossmember wouldn't fit. If you can get the SC3 manual for cheap go for it. Otherwise, maybe think about the NA MKIV Supra. Either one should get you in business, I would think. Just don't expect to stick 300rwhp through that box and have it last too many times down the quarter!

I like toying with the idea of having my 1UZ-FE converted into the 3 pedal variety, but i think it's going to be very difficult. It will also cost a buttload of cash and you don't know what problems you might encounter after the conversion. I would love to have the manual/V8 combo if the conversion was straightforward and reasonably priced, but for now, I would rather get a 5-speed SC300 to compliment my SC400. Why not have the best of both worlds?

Let us know if you have this done Rich, you have my support man.

That's worth checking out, although,I thought those trucks would likely have a 4.0 straight six.
That V8 is just married to the auto it seems.

The Tundra has a stroked cast iron version of the 1UZ-FE V8.

Same difficulty for a SC3 as a SC4. Same parts needed except bellhousing. If you can find a wrecked SC3 manual, it's easy. Otherwise, you have to figure something out for the ECU. I would suggest parts from a JZA80 NA 5 speed.

If you know what you're doing, not very hard. If you don't know what you're doing, hard.
