Default SC300 automatic transmission into SC400?

i've been searching and unable to find any info. I see both transmission are 4 speed and both are A340e. Was wondering if the SC300 auto transmission would fit into a SC400? Also curious about the gear ratios? Im sure there may be some differences with bell house and maybe torque converters, but Im not too sure. Thanks.

The V8 cars have the a340e up until 97 and the a650e from 98-00. The 6 cylinder cars had the a340e which is essentially the supra auto trans from 86 well into the 90s. I don't think they are swappable due to the trans controller being integrated in the engine ecu. I do know that the sc4 trans shows up as a different part number than the sc3. There may be some slight internal differences as well

I've always been confused by this topic, largely because "A340E" seems to get used for everything. And it's always along the lines of pogo's answer, they're the same but different. Did you mean A341E? The best I've been able to peg is the SC400 and TT A/T Supra used the A341E, while the rest of the 2JZ line used the A340E. Even that I'm not at all confident in, however, as the answers have been very inconsistent. Others have said that the A341E is only on the TT.

For the benefit of every one : A3xx is the main trans classification .. the sub models may differ in gear ratios depending on application and they may differ in how the transmission is controlled depending again on application.

I see I actually had that page saved in my notes. Assuming that info is correct (it is user submitted, after all, and it has been updated, as my saved notes along with the link had it saying the '92-99 SC400 uses the A341E, but '98-00 would have been the A650E, and now it says the earlier models are the 340 not the 341), that further contradicts info such as this and this and this:

A340E
1992-1998 Toyota Supra turbo 3.0L (2JZ-GTE)
1992-1997 Lexus SC 400 4.0L V8
1995-1997 Lexus LS 400 4.0L V8

A341E
1991-1997 Toyota Soarer 4.0L V8
1992-1999 Lexus SC 400 GT-L V8 cdn spec.
1990-1994 Lexus LS 400 4.0L V8

It's odd that the non-US models got the A341E, but that the LS400 switched from it to the A340E in '95. Any rhyme or reason to that?

I guess the best is go to the Aisin Transmission products site and Toyota transmissions application page... only way to verify veracity of said info.
