My 1JZ SC400 needs an alternator. I bought a 150 Amp one off of eBay last summer from someone who "builds" them, and actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about in relation to 1JZ/2JZ. He even mentioned in his listing to tell him which connector was required the round or oval connector... So, I figured he must know his stuff...

Anyway, I get stranded today when my alternator fuse blows. I end up discovering that there is a short between the alternator casing (ground) and the alternator positive lug.


So, I was wondering what everyone is using as an upgraded alternator? I would prefer an OEM, as opposed to a solution that is "custom built". Load wise, I have 3 electric fans, 2 14" on radiator, and a 10" on auto trans oil cooler. Also have AEM 340 fuel pump. No sound system, all other electric loads are stock.
