Default sc400 wont shift from park

Hello all, I just picked up an sc400 which needed a starter. I did that repair yesterday without to much trouble(its a big job, but I'd done it on a ls400 before). Anyhow, it was getting near dark when I finished, so i was able to start the car, but not able to drive it. I did, however, run it through the shifter positions to see if the tranny engaged, and it did. So, at this point I'm stoked couldn't wait to get home today to fill up the fluids and take it for a spin. Now the shifter wont move past reverse, even then does not move real smoothly. I am familiar with the brake light switch, shift solenoid (which I can hear click with brake depressed)& the shift override button, which does not allow it to shift any further than that as well. This thing really has me stumped, as yesterday the gear selector moved smooth as silk...

Thanks in advance for your input
Stan

Might need to pull the top of your console and see if something is jamming your shifter. Usually the shift overide should release it. Mine will take a fit like that once in awhile, but the overide always releases it. Most of the time it works just fine.

I figured it out. it was a pair of pliers the po had dropped, that were wedged against shifter mechanism at transmission. I knew it felt something was binding it up
