Car Won't Start :(
Hi Guys,
Due to the terrible winter this year, I kept my SC400 on the driveway for the past 4 months. When I went to start it up a week ago, nothing happened..when you turn the key in the ignition, you hear silence. Also, the dashboard does not light up. The odometer reading does not show, the needles don't go up, and so on.
I got the battery tested and it was DEAD. So, I put a brand new one in yesterday. Now, the only thing that lights up on the dashboard is that red icon indicating that one of the car doors is open. Nothing else lights up. I still get silence when turning the key in the ignition. I know the new battery works because the headlights turn on and the after-market alarms ring loud. Basically, I'm almost seeing the same symptoms that existed with the DEAD battery.
Any idea what could have happened? Blown main fuse? Did my after-market alarm kill the ignition? Any idea how to replace the "main" fuse, where it's located, and how to purchase one?
I called up a couple of dealers and they said to tow the car in. Before I get taken advantage of by the dealer, I thought I would bring this up here.
I was troubleshooting the issue all weekend but to no avail.
Thanks for any help!

you may need to reset your alarm it may be in some sort of safety mode. either that or you did blow some kind of fuse but seems odd with a dead battery, check the alternator fuse and those under the kick panel in the drivers foot area, and also some more in the engine bay.

Yes, I've been trying to reset the alarm all weekend. I think I actually was able to put it in valet mode, but the car still wouldn't start. One person I called said the Lexus anti-theft system may have overtaken the aftermarket alarm, but he said all I have to do is put the key in the driver side door to reset that. That didn't work. I will take a look at the fuses. At this point, it may unfortunately be a trip to the dealer. Thanks.
