1jz vvti alternator wire colors
Hi Guys,
does anyone know which of these VVTI alternator wire colors are L , IG and S?
stock ones are yellow green (L) black/yellow (IG) and white (S)
the vvti alternator has red/blue, yellow/green and white/blue
also, on the same topic, the vvti wiring diagrams/excel files i have found say that EB2-2 needs to go to alternator S. On my 92 sc400 the alternator is wired into the body harness and the white wire already goes into the sensing fuse (and Battery for that matter), or so it seems with a multimeter. where does the white wire go inside the car?
thanks for input!

I don't understand the issue here. Your car is wired for the alternator already, so leave it alone. Absolutely NEVER NEVER NEVER do wiring by colors. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I see the sticker in the alternator tha says the pinout for your alternator. Since your car is a later model car and has the alternator wired in, it should be ready to rock

wow i didn't even notice that sticker, yes that answers my question as far as hooking the alternator wires up..oops.
i guess my confusion comes from the fact that the wire diagram and other peoples' diagrams talk about the eb2-2 wire needing to go somewhere on the alternator, do i just leave that wire unhooked then? i guess i'll start with that.

"S" goes to eb2-2. That's the 3 pin connector inbetween the battery and the fuse box. S goes there, then the other two make their way into the cabin to ij1/ij2.
I was confused, I thought you had a later model car where they have the alternator circuit separate from the engine harness. But yeah, charging function will be the same, just hook it up how Toyota designed it.

that's what confuses me, my 92 sc400 has the alternator as part of the body harness, it is not in the engine harness, which is where the S throws me off, because if i ring out the white (S) wire on the alternator body harness it already comes to the fuse box... which leaves me wondering wtf the EB2-2 wire is for in an SC400, it is a 10 or 8 gauge orange/black wire on the SC400 side and a 12 or 10 awg red/black on the SC300 plug that i have side.

ok just an update / FIY
the SC400 wiring is a bit more different than i thought, that alternator wire (EB2-2 is really the injector/igniter power on the SC400, so if anyone else is doing this swap on an sc400 make sure to pay attention which wiring diagram you are using! i am trying to compile the info into one so the bits are not floating all over the place.
here is SC400 alternator wiring diagram, integrated into body harness.
