Default Coolant temp sensor replaced now it's acting up with a code22?

I replaced my coolant temp sensor for my 93 SC300 in hopes to fix the idle at start up which happens only in warm/hot weather and now I have a code 22 which is the coolant temp circuit.I disconnected battery, pulled ecu fuse, took radiator cap off and squeezed hose to bleed for air pockets.I accidentally pulled the wire on the other coolant sending unit but, soldered the wire back.Error still comes up.When I start it idles rough for about 30 sec until temp goes up?Could there still be air trapped in coolant?or do I need to drive it on the hwy?I'm at a lost

Thanks for any input.

I think the 1UZ coolant sensor is square, maybe you got that one.

I finally found the coolant sensor hiding under the plenum so it was the right sensor but, after I replaced it now throws a code 22(coolant temp circuit) and idles rough for 30 sec on start up.I tried disconnecting battery and fuse but, still comes on at start up.

If I'm not mistaken, there is 2 coolant temp sensors on the car. One for the dash and another for the ECU. Are you sure you replaced the right one?

There are 2x.I got it fixed.I broke the fragile clip and had another one but, wasn't having good contact at first which is what caused the bad idle again.I still have a very slight odd idle sometimes which I think is from the mass air flow which is affected when I tap on it.

Did you ever figure out the problem? I had the rough idle problem and now it progressed to worse. The car stutters and stalls while driving
