Default BFI thread

so i finally made a BFI for my car, got some tools today cz i couldn't reach some things before. haven't driven the car yet but it looks way cool already lol. gonna paint the pieces black once the weather turns up a bit (gotta heat cans up cz its too cold for the paint to stick right now).

i don't know if there's already a thread like this but let's see some pictures of your own BFI setups!

What about the big holes cut into the front, and the sc300 has the same air intake box as the 400 I believe.

i just cut a massive square hole in the front, you can't see it cause the cover is over it. in the 2nd picture the filter isn't in so you can't see the hole, but it's there, if you take the photo into like photoshop or something and brighten it, you should be able to see it then.

oh and the LED turn signals would look great if they worked. currently my lights are hyperblinking because the flasher doesn't work with LED bulbs. i have LEDs everywhere else in the car except the front because then the lights don't flash at all, they just stay on. id rather have hyperblinking than no flashing. so i took those out for now. they're really bright and pretty though lol, got a pair on ebay for like 10 bucks i think. i'm waiting on some higher wattage resistors to come in to modify the flasher to work with the LEDs. you just gotta solder this little metal loop out and replace it with a high wattage low resistance resistor..

Yea that's true, but I'm just not sure if the 300 will benefit as much as the 400 does.

oh yea I've read about that and the procedure for doing it, but thanks for the info So you have leds in every slot of your tail lights? no issues besides the hyperblinking?

Good job, you went a step farther than I did with the lower piece, what material is that?

idk what it's called but it's the same stuff they use for like yard signs and election signs. i think it's called corflute? i got a sheet of 36" x 24" for 9 bucks at home depot. then i made templates with cardboard, just sticking pieces on top of each other until they fit well. then sharpie on top of the plastic and cut it out. voila you have a BFI.

EDIT: almost forgot, drove the car a while yesterday and wow. just wow. i seriously could not believe it, it's either black magic or the placebo effect. the car pulls insanely in the mid range, it seriously feels like 300hp. and mileage seems to have gotten better. i deliver pizzas and i used a lot less gas than before. probably averaging around 24-25 mpgs now, and i need an oil change. seriously everyone should do this, even with a SC300, i think it would make a difference if the orientation and position of the airbox is the same. and it sounds like a mean *** V8 now, real rumble in the midrange, really loud lol, OMG IM SO EXCITE, cant wait to make it a manual this summer

EDIT #2: yes i have all rear LEDs replaced except the top 3 little ones in each tail light. i have 97 tails btw.

Great artistic addition, but is it safe to have cardboard in the engine bay?
