Default Should deleting resonators affect low end ?

So I finally had them removed at a shop and replaced with 2" pipe at the suggestion of the muffler shop guy. It sounds better, more throaty, but still refined like it should've come that way from the factory. Anyway, it seems just a tad weaker between 2-3k rpms, but maybe a little stronger at around 4000 and up. Is that normal ? It's a '98 with the VVTi and 5 speed auto... On another note, it does seem more willing to kickdown a gear or two more frequently.. Thanks in advance..

It should be better across the range since less restricted air flow, thats odd.

Yeah, that's what I had read would happen, so this is a little strange. Maybe I should disconnect the battery for a few minutes...

Yeah, I'm already planning to make a ram air for it... I hope to do that really soon.

Well, I have new problem now. Earlier today, the cel came on and the trac off light keeps flashing and it idles a little funny. Could this exhaust mod have caused this ? I'm starting to think this wasn't worth it and I should've left it stock...

deleting the resonators shouldn't have any noticeable impact on torque, as most of the back pressure is going to come from your cats.
Resonators are there to eliminate drone, make the car quieter for the most part, and they should NOT result in a CEL, nor funny idle
I'm thinking this is just a coincidence, go to auto zone or orielly and have them check the CEL

That's a bit of a relief to know. There's a guy here at the camp I work at who could read the code next time he's in. I'll disconnect the battery for now and see what happens. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for your thoughtful input !

Well, he checked the code and it's a p0300 and p1349 which is variable valve timing malfunction and I guess cylinders 1,3,5,7 are misfiring hence the bad idle when I let off the gas and cme to a stop. I tried to look up the issues on the forums here, but the posts were for ALL the other models EXCEPT the SC's.. That figures.. Anyway, I saw some mentions about an Oil control valve. Is it hard to replace and would there be anything else that could be the source of the problem ??
