Swapping the Head for the 1UZ... crazy idea.
Someone help get this out of my head, I have been thinking here and there when I get bored, and I was wondering.
Buy 2 3SGTE Heads and put them on the 1UZ
I guess Making a 1UZGE
what would be the differences in cams between a cam from V8 engine and a I4 engine?
In the MR2 world people would put a 3SGTE head on a 5SFE engine, making a 2.2 stroker with a stronger block, the same is in the M series of families and I believe the A series of engines
Frankenengine
now I will admit that these are within the same engine family, so maybe its a radical thought, someone tell me why this wont work.

the bores are different at 86mm vs 87.5 for the 1uz. while this is pretty close, it is unlikely that the head bolts/oil passages and coolant passages will line up. start by finding pics of both to compare. also one head would be installed 'backwards'.. in the end. no. wont work without a lot of money.

This particular example doesn't work, it's not a totally crazy idea. There are V8 engines designed to have a pair of Suzuki Hayabusa heads installed on it. And the 1UZ is an ambidextrous engine, there is only one head casting and it can be ran on either bank. Which doesn't make the 1UV any easier to find a high performance 4 cylinder head that would be compatible with both banks. But it does speak for the modular nature of the IUZ.
I am guessing you have had this in mind because you have been dreaming of a couple inexpensive, high-flow heads from the local junk yard?
I know that FE in 1UZ-FE stands for fuel efficient heads, but they can be worked over for improved flow, and to accept bigger valves and a set of performance camshafts on top of the stock bottom end and you could have 9,500 rpm screamer without getting a 2nd mortgage, if you have something on your mind?
