Help a noob out.. A341E trans swap A LOT of Questions!
Right now I'm just looking to swap A341E to A341E just until i graduate High School, I graduate in 2014. So no w58's or R154's til then.....This is my first car & I am a noob, so go easy on me. I don't really know much about cars but I do want to learn. I'm not stupid but when it comes to cars, I only know basic stuff. (everyone has got to start somewhere right?) I'm going to be getting a 1993 DPW Sc400 June 5th. I'm buying it from a friend. I will be removing and installing both transmissions with a friend who knows just as much as I do. The SC trans does not engage at all. Feels like its in neutral in every gear. Everything else is working fine. So far I know the A341E trans was used in the 1993-1995 Lexus GS 300 & the 1990-1994 Lexus LS 400. I also know the speed sensor will need to swapped from the SC trans to the LS /GS trans (depending on what I go with)
With that said, My questions are.....
1.) What could be possible problems?
2.) Could there be another fix before I attempt to swap or is the trans done?
3.) GS or LS trans? Is there a difference? ( I have access to both for $150 from friends)
4.) To complete a LS/GS trans to SC swap, What other parts from the LS/GS needs to swapped into the SC?
5.) Would this be difficult (considering my experience) with a Complete Shop Manual and this http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/trans...n/removal.html ?
6.) Besides Jacks, Jack-stands, and Torque wrenches, What other tools are needed
7.) How long would this take working slower than normal?
Feel free to add anything you feel that's important or I might need to know. Thanks for any input.

This needs to be moved to the performance and maintenance section. I cant from my cell. Please check that section for your answer. I think the tranny solenoids or tranny itself is out.

KingShawty, that'd be great. School's out June 6th. & the SC should be here at my place by then. Between School and work I don't have time for anything. I'll PM you some time in June to see when we can set something up.

Update!!!!
I hated using the search function just to come across threads that weren't resolved. So here's my resolution, Hope it helps someone in the future.
So after a couple months of researching and finding a replacement trans and procrastination, it was the damned Transmission oil filter. It was clogged with about 2mm of gunk. I tried pouring some new ATF in the old one and NO fluid was getting through,. This was a big undertaking since I have little mechanical background. Hardest part was breaking the seal on the pan. I used a putty knife and then started to pry it open with the opposite end of the hammer head. After installing a new filter, new T-IV ATF ($7.65 a quart @ local Toyota dealership) new engine oil filter and engine oil and 220000 on the clock, It's alive! & It's stupid smooth. I am now proud to say I own a SC.
