Trans issue 93 SC400
Ok I would say this is the first major issue my 93 SC400 has had since I pick her up in Dec 2010
Ok today on I75 north at about 80 mph she just stop pulling. It starts and idle like as should, just no movement
Here is what a notice:
About 3 mins before she stop pulling, it did a give hesitation about about 80mph. Then as I stated about 3 mins late no pull.
So I pulled her over to the side of the expressway. Ok rolled her over to the side of the express.
Leading up to this the only thing I can say I notice was a buzzing sound coming from the trans area when I first started the car and it stated about 3 days ago. But once warmed up it seem to go away. That is it. No lost of power, no slips, went in gear perfectly, no sign of an issue or none i noticed.
As I await road side assistance to come tow her back to the house, I tried to move her again, it would move slightly, but at very high rpms.
What do you guys think? I check the fluid, it fine. So is my A340 toast?
My first though is the torque convert died.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Same problem
I had almost the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago! I was on the highway and it stopped pulling suddenly. (1993 SC400) A few seconds before that happened, there was some sort of very slight jerk or hesitation. It was barely noticeable but when you know your car well, everything is noticeable. I got to the side of the road and turned the car off. I couldn't find any obvious problems so I started the car again and it worked for about 5 seconds then stopped pulling again. I got towed home and pulled the tranny pan. There was a bunch of particulate in the tranny fluid and it was getting sucked up into the filter and clogging it causing a loss of hydraulic pressure. It wasn't magnetic so I don't know what it was. For the first 5 seconds, the particulate would sit on the floor of the pan and then slowly get sucked up. That's why it worked briefly then stopped working. Something in the transmission gave out and there was all sorts of particles clogging the transmission filter. I changed out the filter (you can probably just rinse it since it is really just a screen) and then it ran fine for about 5 minutes. But, the same thing happened again. This leads me to believe that there is a major problem resulting in masses of junk accumulating in my tranny pan. If you take the pan off, I bet you will find the same thing. I am not too worried about mine since I am putting in a R154 soon. But, I do miss driving my baby.
Good luck. Oh yeah, and as a result of my R154 swap, I will have a Transgo Shift Kit modded valve body and a Level Ten performance torque converter to get rid of if any one is interested.

Thanks for the above post. Very informative.
funny thing today. I been looking for tranny in my area. But today I decide to start the car as it had not been started since the beginning of May.
So started it up and put it in car and just Revved the engine up and down for about 8 mins. The car move a little and it just pulled off.
At first it would pick up much speed then it would but shift very hard. But if I stop it would not just pull on it on without me Revving it up. Then it would drive and pick up speed and shift hard and/or only shift at high rpm's.
To go in reverse I would have to Rev it up then it would go in reverse.
Any ideas on this one????
Thanks for all your help in advance once more.
Been going crazy with my SC

I would also replace the four solenoids while I had the pan off. Just another piece of mind.
If you just pull the pan and change the filter, you are only changing about 20% of the fluid. You need to hook it up to a machine and then change the fluid and filter and possibly the solenoids.

Thank you guys. I will do that this weekend. Not sure who around me can drain the tranny completely, but I will asked ask around, but more so the tow bill to get it to them.
O ya. She has highly mileage at 203,000
