Remote Start issues
Hey guys, got a question. My 93 SC400 had a "remote start" installed on it when I got it. I do not have the transmitter, therefore have never used it. The only thing I know is that when the battery is disconnected, then re-connected, the car will start, even if the key is in my pocket.
So here is my issue. Car has been in storage all winter, started and warmed up as I could, until the battery developed a bad cell last month. Today, I installed a brand new Sears Gold Die-hard. As I hooked up the negative cable, as usual, the car started fine. I let it run for about 5 minutes, then shut it off to finish cleaning it up, check pressures, etc. When I went to re-start....nothing. Battery has juice as the headlights, radio, power tilt, etc all still work fine. I would assume that the "exciter" wire that activates may be acting up?
I don't have much experience with these, but can I assume that it is just a spliced wire coming from the "exciter" off the starter? Can I just re-splice back into the factory harness and eliminate the whole remote start crap? Thanks in advance for any input.
