Exclamation R154 clutch/tranny problem

goodmorning all.

I have a problem i need help diagnosing. ftr i did run a search and turned up nothing relevant so here we go.

5 days ago i put in a new throwout bearing (later discovering i need a new clutch)

yesterday i was driving to my gf's house to help her move, in 3rd gear i started hearing a loud shim or judder (your discretion). the trans will still engage 3rd but will kick it out upon any throttle, still with noise. 4th gear engages normally but the judder/shim is very noticeable, also in 5th gear at 60mph or above.

when i put the throwout in, i put in 75w0- dino gear oil (not redline or rp synchromax) until i ordered a new clutch. i put in the 2.6l required but i probably should have poured the whole 3.0l in.

So from what i MIGHT gather: not enough gear oil/ wrong oil, clutch has worn to the point that things arent lining up concentrically, finger springs might have broken on clutch plate itself, retainer clips and spring have come off spindle. lotsa different possibilities, i just dont know enough about the r154 trans..

the car is still driveable (gotta go to work), but the noise is ungodly, and obviously i gotta figure out whats up with 3rd gear..

Gentlemen, thank you.

I'm just curious as to why you didnt put in 75w-90 like you're suppose to?

putting in 2.6 instead of 3.0 quarts will not cause your tranny to act like that.

Sorry, you were missing the "9". But that shouldn't be a problem either off brand or not it won't do that. Can you feel any resistance in the clutch pedal? Or maybe a slight kick in the clutch pedal whenever you press it down?

No like I said all the gears engage, but there's a terribly judder/shim in 3rd and 4th gear, and fifth and hwy speed. However 3rd gear will kick out as soon as any throttle is applied. I'm trying to cover all the angles here. The most accurate I can't describe the noise would be like a spec twin disc shim, except awful lol. There's a ping noise occasionally that sounds like something has fallen and is being knocked around by the gears( hence I suggested the finger springs in the clutch plate may have broken from sheer wear). The clutch needed replacing before this occurred but I'd like to be close to 100% diagnoses so I can order the parts I need all at once.
