Thumbs up Vacuum question, tried search, no help :(

Ok, so I JUST bought a 1992 SC400, which is an amazing story in itself, but I will save that for later.

My question. On the Vacuum system, on the left side of the engine (facing the vehicle from the front) there are two lines that go from the top of the intake manifold (on little thin metallic lines) down to below the intake on the left side to a PMW VSS (according to the diagram on the hood)

One vacuum line is connected to the Throttle Body, and the other line is connected to the Charcoal Canister.

On the Vacuum Switch itself, there are two nipples, one on the inside, and one on the outside edge, they both are perpendicular to each other and facing downward. The outer nipple is closest to the front of the car.

When i bought the car, it had both lines disconnected.

Which nipple does the TB line go to? and then the CC line go to?

Thank you so much!

(If its too confusing, ill post a pic later tonight, but I think I described it well enough)

normally you can tell by the length of the vac lines and the bend thats been left in them over time.
also the VSS is just a fancy pulse width modulated on off device, so from a technical standpoint, it shouldn't matter which one you connect to which nipple, cause the vss just connects and disconnects the 2 from each other in a rapid fashion.
So use the closest nipple for each side for cleanliness. they normally don't cross the vac lines on vss's for that only reason.

The lines were gone. Good to know it just pulses the vacuum, so it "shouldnt" matter. But I am way OCD. lol.

I will try swip-swapping and see if I notice a difference when I get home.

I seems a little smoother since swapped.

FYI for future searchers, the TB vacuum hose goes on the inside nipple, and the CC goes on the outermost nipple.

ty for the help and insight Ali SC3

yeah it shouldn't make a difference unless one of the lines has a check valve on it, but good to hear you got it worked out.
I would have taken a picture but I have an sc3, and there aren't many stock vacuum lines left.
the canister only purges under certain conditions like cruise and a few others, most of the time the vsv is closed.

lines won´t cross each other. Go straight and you´re good.
