Default Anyone currently installing an r154

Alright.. I'm looking for a measurement since I don't have a motor to bolt mine too yet. Heres the jist of it. I plan on doing a shifter extension on the transmission itself to eliminate the swan shifter as seen here in vipsoarers thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...arer-r154.html.

Now what I need to know is the length from where the transmission mates the bellhousing to the center of the shift boot.

just for a visual...

I extended 3.5 inches. I used the stock mk3 shifter.

3.5" will also work , but 4" will hit the shifter bezel when you go in 2nd.

Stupid question ???
Why is it better to go with the extension rather than the swan shifter?

The swan shifter won't get it back far enough unless you have the housing that is also extended which is the soarer housing before the tripod shifter.

No you don't have to extend all of the r154 tranny if you get a soarer r154 which is already the correct length back. Those are really pricey tranny though. I see them on ebay for 1500 bucks. You can get the Mk3 turbo r154 which will need to be extended to the correct place for an sc. Roughly 3-3.5 inches. When you extend the housing you can also run a short shifter later if you want. If you just cut the shifter and extend it back to the correct length as well. The choice is up to you. But for like 150-200 bucks i rather get it extended back.
