Default AEM v2 Sc300 2JZGTE Cranks but no spark; no igniter

As title says
1995 Sc300 2JZGTE R154 (NSW and Clutch bypassed)
Harness rewired and everything else works
no spark
I removed igniter as the AEM is supposed to be able to handle the coils (RIGHT??)
I checked calibration and Startup sync - it is switching to on

What am I missing?

You need an igniter.

I understood...seems incorrectly...that the AEM can be the igniter. So it looks like I need to add the igniter back in and then it should be fine. easy change.

I misread no igniter but they had CDI. So it needs something to create spark.
