nice I'll have to check mine out when I get around to the bushes.
I always wondered what made the shifter come back to the middle on its own, I am guessing its what you pointed out.

is it bad that my tranny doesn't have that rubber boot under the shifter? I can literally touch the bolts/nuts that are holding my shifter in place with the tranny under the shifter plate. Could I pick one up easily used, or oem anywhere online?

*and to clarify I am talking about the boot under the shifter plate that goes to the tranny, not the one sitting directly between the shifter and shifter plate

thats just a dust cover so it doesn't get exposed to the elements under the car as much.

I've had the worst shift play imaginable from this supra (tripod) W58 I purchased from SF. I just pulled the bolts mentioned that holds the springs in and there's only bolts and when I stick my finger in the hole I feel nothing. Should I be able to feel a spring or is it inside the tranny deeper? It looks like the spring should be sitting on the bolt.

The Tranny is in the car and I'm trying to do this without pulling the POS again.

Here is the part diagram. I have pulled the bolts circled in red which are labeled on the parts diagram as reverse restrict pins, not bolts that hold in springs as the image suggested. Where are the ball and spring circled in green. I don't see bolt for the springs on the outside of the transmission.

Hey, I'll tell you personally, I never bought the bushings everyone was telling me to get. My friend just tightened a bolt that is inside the rubber boot under your shifter and vuala, good as new for me. The bolt had gotten loose, make sure to apply locktite or something to it.

^ It's definitely not the shifter bolt. The whole rod circled in red wobbles around loosely. I've already done the aluminum shifter bushings and they did nothing.

Here's the link to the part diagrams if anyone else needs to look the parts up.

Before:

After:

APE bushings. I cried when i saw the price, but i was too lazy to get some machined up myself.

Other than that, i just changed out the ball cup bushing at the end of the extension going into the tranny and filled the tranny w/ eneos gear oil. Shift feel became 100%

I purchased the ebay bushings from summit engineering with expidited shipping for $15. Worked perfect. Just search supra shifter bushings. Hopefully the links work I'm on my phone.

Thats the worst play I have ever seen, something is probably missing.

Well guys after pulling the transmission I've found the culprit. A $3 bushing cost me 5 hours of work. It takes 2 minutes to replace and would have been so much easier if the seller was honest.

You can see the bushing is completely disintegrated...
