Default Help - Throttle Position Sensor TPS screw-up

Saturday I changed my spark plugs, and then decided to clean my IACV, which was filthy, took off the Throttle Position Sensor also to spray with compressed air as well. When I removed the TPS I noticed it was spring loaded, oh no. Even since then my car drives fabulous & completely normal but idle like its super charged, steroid like. I know I put the Throttle Position Sensor back on wrong & simply don’t know how to correct it. I used to idle normal after a couple minutes at 700rpm now it’s about double that & at stop light about 1800rpms. A non-stop revved fast idle.

I really need help here, 92 SC300; manual doesn’t really address how to reinstall the TPS since its spring loaded. Just says put it back on. I’ve tried to place back on from both directions with a half twist, even took off IACV for more twist room to no avail.

I’ve searched, read & printed out a few things that hopefully will help.

Can anyone direct on how to adjust my idle back to normal. Thank you a million in advance!

You could check the cruise control linkage bolt, (under the plastic cover above the TPS) if your idle is low. If your idle is high turn the TPS, you have to catch it's "soft spot". turn it left and right a little (undo top screw). That's how I did it. just keep on fiddling around with it.
FYI, the IACV is below the throttle body, towards the front, the TPS is to the left of the Throttle body
If you have "Trac", there will be 2 of the TPS'.
Hope this helps

Quick question while we are talking about the iacv. When you take apart the entire thing, and are reassembling it...do you screw it all the way to max max or no. I am talking about the spiral thing.
If not can you guys explain how i put it back because.i.read you have to leave a gap or something.

I think I just screwed the IACV all the way in. If I remember correctly...
