Default Inexpensive Horsepower

I just got a 95 SC400 with 130K. In the next year or so I plan on twin turboing it. Currently it is 100% stock except for NGK plug and wireset. What are some inexpensive ways to get more horsepower and increase performance. I'm sure there is a plethora of things that can be done. My parameters are of course cost and I don't really want to do anything that will need to changed or interfere with my turbo plans. Let the games begin. LOL

Hp costs money plain and simple.. I'd wok on handling or add parts that will be needed when you go that route..
What is your budget..

Yea I know I will have to spend some money. I was just looking for suggestions on how to gradually build up to the big job of turboing. I'm just about completely caught up on maintenance. Plugs, wires, oil and tranny fluid change, serpentine belt, vacuum hoses. I still need to all 4 O2 sensors, about $300. Next I'm gonna do timing belt and water pump with new pulley, tensioner, actuator, and Amsoil LL coolant, about $600. So that will be consuming my budget for the next month or so. After that it depends how well I want to eat. LOL Oh, I'm happy with the handling for now. I'm focused on 1/4 mile speed.

The cheapest mods HP-per-dollar-wise are all boost related. Bolt ons are pretty pointless on these motors. Stick to maintenance first before anything else and just wait for boost. It's just going to be that much sweeter when you finally hit boost.

Nitrous. Of course the ongoing cost of filling bottles will add up, but nitrous is the easiest and cheapest way to add power quickly.

Inexpensive and horsepower are polar opposites in this context...diametrically opposed to each other! If you want any real and noticeable increase of HP, you will have to spend money, a fairly hefty amount of it. Especially when you go twin turbo. Be prepared to spend a small fortune.

What you can do now are things like an exhaust. Get a custom exhaust that will work for your turbo setup.
Weight reduction is the absolute cheapest gain in "performance".
Remove your A/C and or Power steering.

Good suggestions. I wouldn't mind removing the power steering pump. The A/C is gonna have to stay, I live in Phoenix man.

A 3500+ pound street car without power steering? Good luck.
Even a Miata without power steering is torture parallel parking.

Just continue to maintain the car and save for boost.

You gotta pay to play and with the 1UZ platform you're going to need some funds to get it done right the first time; not to mention the money to spend in case something breaks.

Cheap.
Fast.
Reliable.

You can only pick two, my friend.

Just installed a High Performance Walbro fuel pump. This helped a bit. Probably because the old was failing anyways...

Bfi is an extremely cheap mod. Do you plan to keep the auto?
