pretty nice but where was second.. you left us hanging lol
Looks like you are almost as short as you can go with the bracket.
You could always get rid of the cupholder and do something custom for the trim, without the cup holder it looks right in the middle of the lower part of the console.
You could call it the "close shifter mod" since you wont have to reach as far.

I'm so excited.... Can't wait to see how this works out! I really want to do this from auto to 350Z 6 speed in winter. I miss driving a manual!
Also, I agree on changing the design on the upper shifter, add some 90 degree reinforced bends and hopefully it'll sit alot better. My friend did that on his MX6 to move the shifter to the position he preferred. I don't know whether structurally it would work with this application though.

Good news: I was dealing with a sync/noise issue with Megasquirt before I could start test driving it again, and I think I got that fixed!
Bad news: Nobody hold your breath, trans has to come off. Started making a knocking sound shortly after getting MS running. Sounds like a loose flywheel to me which is weird because I torqued it and used loctite. Either way, trans has to come off to inspect. So I guess I'll get a taste of how hard it is to get this trans out with the motor installed (or if it's even possible at all). Sad as I was really hoping to test drive it this weekend
As for the shifter, yeah that is basically the idea. Only thing is this is a 6spd, so to go into reverse you have to push the shifter down. With the **** offset like that, I'm wondering if it'll make it difficult to push it down.

hmm.good point.
how far does it measure from bellhousing? I guess you can take a measurement when you take the trans off. What a bummer about the knocking noise. Here is the stock measurement on my transmission right now. The collins welded shortening service moves it to 34.5 inches from the bellhousing.

I got the trans off. I found the flywheel adapter came loose. Collins did say to use a lot of loctite red. So I must not have used enough, so pretty much my own fault it seems. I put a lot of loctite on them this time so hopefully that takes care of that.
As for measurement, yeah about 34.5" from the edge of the bellhousing to the center of the shifter.

Keep us updated once it is all back together. I have just picked up my 350z transmission, and waiting for my shifter and bellhousing to be done. I am trying for a custom QuarterMaster setup hopefully using just my 2JZ flexplate remachined to take their clutch pack housing!

I haven't done anything with the shifter yet. Like I said, I had to pull the trans off. I'm in the middle of re-installing it, however that's not as easy of a task as it sounds. It installs along with the motor as 1 assembly pretty well, but removing/installing the trans with the motor in place is proving to be difficult. I'm clearancing the tunnel with a BFH trying to make room for this thing to go back in without pulling the motor.
