Default POLL: How much would you pay for a SC300 TT?

Presume the body is a 93 manual in good condition. The motor is j-spec with 50k.

EDIT: Let's also pretend the motor is stock

Are you going to buy one or you selling one? If the car only has the moto/tranny I would pay up to 20k.

I am about to build one and am most likely going to sell it.

The car will have the j-spec motor and tranny, and all other oem items that can be swap from the clip.

I'm soon going to post my project costs when my '95 is complete. Here are the current numbers for a N/A to single conversion:

1) Mint '95 sc300 5-speed 43K miles - $16.5k + $0.25K (airfare to pick car up)
2) 6-speed tranny with everything (release fork, shifter, shiftlever retainer, clutch release hub) *and* LSD - $2.9k
3) New flywheel, throw-out and pilot bearings, retainer clips, RPS stage 2 pressure plate, stock Supra clutch disk, flywheel bolts - $1.2k
4) Clutch hub washers, tranny mount, and rear support bracket - $0.25k
5) Projected turbo cost - $7.5k

Projected cost: $28,600

My budget was $30K for *everything*.

I would be willing to sell my Soarer 2.5TT for about 20k

My friend is also selling a 95 Soarer 2.5TT (white). We are almost done with getting the car an and if you guys are interested i'll let you know how much he wants for that one (but it's probably going to be around the same range, definately under 30k)

Hello Dimcorner,

Is the 2.5TT stock? If so, it probably has the 5-speed (or worse yet automatic) tranny which won't hold what the 6-speed does. Additionally, I don't know if the 2.5TT has an LSD, and it uses the side-mount intercooler. My project includes an FMIC which is required (IMHO) in the heat of Texas. Additionally, I bought a TT LSD.

I vaguely recall that the 2.5TT has just a slight bit more hp than the 1uz motor (~280Hp). Certainly not in the 400-500 range.

My project with the 2jz engine will have 450Hp at the wheels (500+ at the crank), and the car is *mint*. I bought it from a retired couple with only 43K miles.

My point is (without being offensive), 450+ hp isn't cheap, and I met my budget of < $30K.

He should give it to you for free. Seeing as how you need to add another to your collection.

no offense taken.

But i didn't get the Soarer for RAW power (I would have kept my 400hp RX7 for that). I got it because it's VERY unique. You don't import a japanese car because is cost effective, you do it for the uniqueness of the car. I mean for 60k i can get a R34 in the states, but 60k can make one helluva fast supra, or rx7, or sc300 that will kick the crap out of the R34 in both drag AND roadcourse. Hell you can get a NSX for around 25k and spend the rest on power adders.

besides, you should see the looks i get with the car

BTW...
The car is RATED at 280, but people have dynoed it at 300 before. It does have a stock TORSEN LSD. I have driven both the 400 and the 2.5TT and the 2.5TT is CONSIDERABLY faster. Unfortunately it's a Auto, but i am planning to change that very soon . My friend has been able to eat up S4's on races with one, from a roll of course.

But then you would be stuck with that car for a bit. That Gen M3 is uglier than the present one. The SC screams style though. I would say $8k for the 93 car and put $12K in mods and finally do the install yourself.

Not to mention the E36 M3 makes 240hp with an engine made of glass
