Default Tranny Pan FIPG...How do I get the ****** thing off?

So I have all 19 bolts undone....but that dang FIPG **** is stuck like glue. I hae no leverage to get anything in between the pan to pry it off. Anyone have any ideas?

I just need to replace the FIPG with a new gasket...simple enough right? ha

95 SC400

EDIT:: looks like I need a long skinny putty knife or something... Still looks to be a PITA

That sucks. I did mine with the motor out and I had to murder the oil pan to get it off.

I used a hammer to pry it out, not the end where you smash things, but the other end you use to remove nails with. I bent the pan a bit but straightened it out when I got it off. There's a spot under there where you insert tools to pry it off. If you think getting the pan off is a PITA wait til you need to get the actual FIPG off. LOL

I don't think so, 'cause doesn't the oil in it heat up when in use? If it reacts to heat then everytime you use it then the FIPG would loosen up.

Holy hell. I got it off an put back on. ^^ You are right about the FIPG being a PITA to get off. I used a wire brush and went to town on it!

One interesting thing to note...I only had three magnets in the pan... I thought there were supposed to be 4?

I hope I never have to do that job again....Shimmying under the car sucks!

Take a razor, skim the outside - hit it with a piece of wood and a rubber mallet in a few different spots. Off

You should've bought a new magnet before putting it on! LOL There really should be 4 on there.
