IS300 5spd tranny
I have a 1998 Lexus sc300 with the original 2jzGe vvti engine, automatic transmission. Sometime next year I'm looking to do a 5speed swap with the original engine. According to my online research it states the Lexus IS300, years 99-05, has the same exact engine as I do (correct me if I'm wrong). I notice the IS300 also came with 5speed trannys from factory. So my question is, will the IS300 5speed tranny be compatible with my sc300 original 2jzGe vvti engine? Will customization be required?
Are we talking about a W55 trans? From what I've heard it not very stout over 350rwtq.
If you are asking will it physically bolt up to a stock motor? I see no reason why it wouldn't be drop in, besides the speedo gear.

I'm actually referring to the w58. Thanks to your info I did some further research. It seems the w55 is the tranny that comes with the lexus models here in the U.S. Where as the models over seas have the w58. Thanks for this information.
