Default Which cat for an SC400 with custom exhaust being built

Which cat do you guys recommend for me? I'm having my SC400 exhaust system built, all 2.25" mandrel bent piping with a Magnaflow x-pipe and Magnaflow 14829 mufflers that a lot of guys are using. I figure with 206k my stock ones aren't flowing like they used to, and that the car would benefit greatly from new, higher flowing, larger i.d. cats anyway.

If you put those IMF headers on then you won't need the cats to take up the extra space between the stock manifold and the cat-back portion of the exhaust anyways. Unless you really want cats you can just leave them out.

Do what? I coulda swore I read where people that used IMFs had to do something with the cats or whatever, they weren't a real direct bolt up. Either way, if I'm going to have an exhaust built for free flow, might as well not restrict them with old cats with loads of miles.

Why restrict flow with cats at all is what I'm saying. Tennessee isn't an emissions state is it?

Hello!

i will install in the next days a redback 200cpsi stainless converter for up to 4L engines. Part Number CAT300M. Is the converter installed ( he comes on the place from the 3rd converter with a 3" pipe") i go to measure the exhaust values, after this, i install the IMF Headers and remove the main converters and do the test again and hope, the values ok.

don´t forget to install O2-simulator for the control o2-Sensors after the main converters.

more in my SC400 thread

greets

Tom

I would use a high flow cat from Random Technology. They offer cats in all odd and common sizes, and even have as big as a 4-inch converter for those who have emissions but need lots of flow.
