Default battery warning light

sup guys so my 95 sc300 has been having some issues, my battery warning light is on and i noticed a leak right above the alternator(where the spark plug wire connects), and on the alternator. a lot of black gunk and was wondering if it could be the cause of my alternator going out. let me know if you guys can help me out, where is the oil leaking from? is this common? what can I do?

Try searching, this is very a common issue.

(I'll give you a hint: search for distributor o-ring)

Its more than likely your distributor o-ring, a common issue for the SC3. While you're at check the valve cover gaskets and see if they're leaking as well, over time they could leak down to the alternator and cause the same problem. When you replace your alternator and fix the oil leak(s) that killed it, give the engine a good wash to clean off all the oil.
