Default coil pack sc400?

Now i am having bogg/missfire issues between idle and 3k rpm's. I took off the left hand ignition coil and it started fine, took off the right hand ignition coil and it was barely turning over miss firing like crazy. So i thought ok so ill take the coil packs on the righthand side and get them checked. But i cannot find them. So my question is do the sc400's even have coil packs? And if so where are they? IF not then i can probably assume its the right hand ignition coil. My plugs are brand new as well.

1992 sc400

there are no "coil packs," just the two coils you were messign with: the one up by the upper radiator hose, and the one down on the drivers side. each coil supplies spark for half of the cylinders.

so replace the coil that was misfiring. i had this same problem, i replaced that coil with another used one, and all was well.

^ yep, and they actually are called coil packs . They look like this:

they are both identical except for the bracket they are on.

Thank you, both of you. Because i had looked up coil packs online for the sc400 and i got that one you show and another one that looks identical too the normal coil packs. But really thank you! Its the one on the drivers side. Ill be back tomorrow or the following day when it comes in. Thank again!

They are actually just "coils" on the SC400. One coil may supply four cylinders with spark but it is the distributor actually delivering the spark to each cylinder. For it to be a "coil pack" the spark to each of the four cylinders would be delivered directly from the pack.

Alright i have replaced it and well... it only helped a little. Do i need to reset something? Or am i supposed to replace both? Because i think the symptoms were obvious coil issues. 1k-3k rpm loss, bogging out, random jerks. I would say it was the fuel but why would it give me issues between 1-3k rpms but @ 3k and up it gives me a lot more room. If i floor it even at 3k it still does hesitate but not much. I have brand new plugs, but the distributors are factory.

I have even thought about the cat clogging, but that still doesn't answer it giving me more power @ 3k rpms and higher.

Check your cap and rotor on that side, mine did that when it must have been cracked, mine actually completely broke apart on the driver side and the car still ran on 4 cylinder, like a turtle but surprisingly still ran

I was going to check actually in the morning. But i know for sure that its not in pieces because of this example. I tried this an hour ago. I was at a stop sign, i put about 3/4 throttle down and it was bogging bad but still slowly accelerating, once i hit about 25 mph i slowly let the throttle out a little, and the engine kicks into 8 cyls. And yes the distinctive difference between 4 cyl into 8 cyl. I am also going to take all my plugs out tomorrow and check how dark each one is. I did not gap them, which i had asked on this site if i needed too gap the plugs i got and several people said no. But ill check my plugs and distributor cap/rotor and see if thats all in good working order. Thanks again!

I replaced the distributor cap/rotor on my driver side and i noticed a slight difference. However the issue is still not gone. At this point i am thinking its probably a plug wire goin out. Anyone have any ideas?

you wouldn't call that an "ignition coil" instead of a coil pack?

Check the forums for "The Definitive Thread of Hesitation" and I bet one of your causes is in there...

I am working through the same issue, MAF is waiting on my porch at home as I type, PRAYING that finally fixes this...

Edit... Feeling helpful so...

I suppose you could, but lexus/toyota call it a coil pack to avoid confusion with their vehicles that run coil on plug systems where this is called an ignition coil:
