Default cleaned IACV- now cranks but won't start

Evening everyone,

I've been using your forum to work on the 94 SC400 I picked up.

I disconnected the positive cable when I took off the IACV to clean it up and try and fix the stalling problem.

Putting everything back together has left me with a no start condition.

The engine cranks but won't start. It started ever so briefly when I first tried it, but now it just cranks.

I doesn't even try and fire. Seems like I'm not getting any spark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million- Chad

can you confirm a no spark condition? Pull a few spark plugs and see if they are sparking

It might be that the plugs are fouled from getting doused with fuel, probably didn't help when the car was initially stalling. If they aren't covered in fuel then you have a fuel delivery issue that you need to look into further. good luck

Every plug was just soaked in gas. I changed them all out and I have a battery charger on it. We'll see what happens in the morning.

Thanks for the input.

It's my first Lexus and I'm trying to get all the little gremlins figured out.

yea i did this too when i ****ed up the wiring on my 1JZ swap. Car wouldn't start, flooded the engine and fouled up my plugs. I was able to salvage them with a sandblaster and some solvent, but if all else fails you might need a new set of plugs.

Let us know how the spark test goes first.

I only tested one plug for spark- and it had it, but all the plugs were soaked so I changed them all. Still no start this morning.

I'm thinking something happened when I hooked the battery back up. I swear I smelled something burnt. Is it possible that I fried the IACV?

I don't have any diagnostic tools and obviously it won't run so I can't drive it down to a shop. Where else should I look or check?

What about the drivers side coil? Think I could ahve fried it?

I appear to have both spark and plenty of fuel......so?

I really hate to just throw parts at it.

The engine will usually start on one coil but it will run terribly.

Default Wt?????????

OK.

So I take off the neg battery cable to try and reset everything. Nothing changes.

I jump the TE1 to the E1- constant flashing of the CEL, so that means it isn't throwing a code- right?????

CEL comes on when the key is in the ignition and turned to the on position, so that means the ECU should be ok right??????

What the heck is going on?????

If something is fried then it should throw a code right?

Have you checked to see if you have fuel. Maybe your efi fuse blew. Try jumpering the fuel pump, fp and +b in the diagnostic connectOr. Make sure you can hear fuel circulating. Than try starting

Make sure your key is in the on position when you test the fuel pump.

You probably did this already but when I disconnect the negative battery cable, I then step on the brake for about ten seconds to be certain the reset takes place.

I am now in essentially the same boat with my 1993 SC300. The CEL and yellow Airbag light flash constantly with TE1&E1 jumped (I actually have the little tool that does nothing more than jump these connectors.) To the best of my recollection, it never did that before when it had not stored or thrown a code. Let me know what you find out and I will do the same. I am going to start by testing the ground and wiring harness to the ECU.
