Default Still havent gotten her running

-1uzfe sc400 92-

Alright well this waterpump/timingbelt replacement has turned into a 3 month issue for me (she ran perfectly fine before i replaced). After replacing both of them she wouldn't start. It turns over good and fast (brand new battery, thought that was issue). I know the fuel pump is running, i know its grounded, i know everything is plugged back in electrical. I double checked all the vacuum lines, checked the fuses. Just replaced the plugs. 100% sure the timing is set correct. However there's a few things different about the car since i replaced. The trunk wont pop without key turned over. When i try too start the doors lock/re-lock. And when i turn over i hear a popping sound every couple turns. Any help would be very appreciated, its so depressing seeing it sit and sit in the driveway . thanks -Drew

are you sure timing is set right? the popping noise could be backfiring in the intake manifold. Does it sound like it wants to fire? All the fuses under the hood check out okay?

ya the timing is set right, i even double checked on here. all set 2 the manual points. if its backfiring in the intake manifold what do you think could be the issue? i had someone come over 2 help me and he said that yea it does sound like it wants 2 start. hes not a mechanic but knows more then i. ( already tryed everything he suggested ). Yea i checked all the fuses under the hood. could one of those huge fuses be bad? not sure how 2 check those?

On my previouse SC400, I took it to a shop to get the t-blet w-pump service. They get it all wack together only to find out it wouldn't start. The problem ended up being with some pigtail connectors that got bent wrong when they moved the ignition coils...Check your coils, cap, rotor...also, check any of those plastic plugs that are brittle at this age.

You are going to have two of these things that plug directly in to yor two ignition coils. Check them to make sure they both look correctly and that the pins inside the connector aren't jacked up. As far as plugs, I meant to say any of those plastic wire connectors similar to

The plastic gets extremelt brittle with age. Make sure when you plug the two ends back together, they are getting a good connection. I would bet your issue is a spark/electrical/iginition issue. Those componenets are going to be your plug wires, cap/rotor, and ignition coils.

okay thanks, i wont have time during the light (work all day) too work on her until saturday. But in the case that i think it might be a wire connector or a plug. Where would i go too get these? I highly doubt a general auto parts place would carry, not even order. But how did you end up getting them? Thank you again.

if the connectors are somewhat intact you can get the part number off the back of them (5 digit number) and take it to toyota/lexus so they can match it up and order it for you.

Do this first...un plug your two ignition coils. check the pins in the ig. coils and check the plug wires that plug in to them.

check to see if your cam position sensors(2) are plugged in. A very important sensor(1) is the crank position sensor is on the bottom, check to see if you didn't unplugged it.

random question but did you ever took off the distributor while changing your timing belt?
