60 MPH @ 4,000 RPM Is That Normal? HELP!!!!!
Hey there fellow SC enthusiasts I finally got my SC300 on the road after having it for a year & a half, it was automatic but I converted to stick. But now I've been driving it for a couple of days & I've noticed that the car is running at really high revs. It does 60 MPH at 4,000 RPM's I hope that's not normal it feels like it has a higher gear ratio like 4:10's or something it also feels like it needs another gear WTF, would this have to do anything with having 19" rims IDK please if you have any info please let me know I would really appreciate it.

Actually it's higher. It's 4.27.
And no, that is not normal at all. Should be about 2600 RPM in 5th with stock tire diameter and a w58. If you tire diameter is larger than stock, then it should be at slightly lower revs.
Your speedo is obviously off it that is what you are relating speed to, though. It does not account for the gearing change you made with the swap. You're probably going like 9x mph! Use a speed per gear calculator and print out the results to memorize your important speed limits until you get a speedo healer or gps.

A w58 swap should make the speedo read off, but you are actually going slower than the speedo reads. I'm not sure how many MPH it will be off, but it feels like around 6-8mph or so.
Your 19s may actually be correcting the slow speedo to some degree depending on overall height...
I drive to work at between 70 and 75 indicated, and I can tell that there is no way I am really going that fast. You should not be turning 4k at 60 indicated regardless.
Is your clutch slipping maybe? That's alot of RPMs for that speed....

Well if your cluster is swapped then you shouldn't be reading very far off because the only difference is then between your 4.27 diff and the manual's 4.08 (correct me if I'm wrong on that value). Your tach must be messed up then because I don't see how your clutch would be slipping and stay exactly at 4000 while cruising at constant speed. Either that or your cluster wasn't swapped and everybody around you is driving reallllly fast.

Let's use some process of elimination. Answer the following questions and maybe we can figure it out.
Before the swap, what was normal at 60MPH?
When you swapped out the transmission, where did you get your VSS from? Electronic or mechanical adapter?
Your RPM should be accurate unless you have mess around with the igniter which is part of the ignition system, it's not part of the transmission. If it reads 4k RPM, it's probably correct. I am pretty sure your VSS may be at fault which is part of the transmission. Unless there are anomaly that is unusual to cause your problem to occur.

The problem is that I bought the car like 2 years ago automatic with stock exhaust & I drove for a day & parked it until now that I put an after market exhaust, bigger rims, & converted stick so I don't remember what the rpm where at 60 mph b4 all the changes because back then you wouldn't even here the car run it was so quiet but now it sounds like its reving high but not 4,000 rpm high.
