Default Transmission fluid

I was going to change my Trans fluid I notice that SC400 take "DEXRON 2" fluid,I went to the auto parts store and they say that Dexron 2 has been discontinued,but i could use Dexron 3 fluid,so my question is,is this correct,I dont want to put the wrong fluid in my trans and mess something up.so if anyone has ran into this problem,please let me know thanks

Yes it's backward compatible. You can use Dexron III in Dexron II but generally, you can't use Dexron II in applications that calls for III.

Many only use Toyota Type IV.

Thanks guys,I just notice that my fan oil is low and it takes Dexron II also,so will Dexron III also work with that?

only use Toyota Type 4 fluid

but there is 1 other option Nulon full synthetic.

Automatic Transmission Fluid that requires Toyota T-IV on the bottle

yes it will be fine to use dex 3

Yes, no need for Toyota Type IV there.
