The million dollar question turbo or supercharger sc400 1997 !!!
Hello sc world I have a million dollar question turbo or Super charger. For the last 6 years Ive been to hundreds of web sites and read hours and hours about getting more power from the sc400 I just want to hear different opinions I have 1997 sc400 with about 110k miles on it. I have a cold air short ram intake and a custom exhaust 2.5" piping from the cats but i want more power. I previously owned a stock 92 sc300 & a 92 sc400 but with this car i would like to customize it. I want to keep the stock motor and dont want to spend a million bucks on this project but now want to start buying parts for either a turbo or super charger maybe even Nos. Please post your POSITVE comments and pics of your sc400 turbo or super charger

What is your end goal for this car? A supercharged car is probably a much better daily driver. A turbocharged car is cheaper if you want to a better 1/4 mile time. They both are considerably more expensive to build than 2jz's. So the limiting factor is your budget and time. I think it's a better idea to save up money and invest in the project all at once rather than collect parts over time. It's too easy to overspend that way. I know because my garage is filled with parts I bought over the years that will never go on my car due to poor planning. Two years later, my engine is still N/A lol.

Twin-Turbo is BEST BY FAR!
Check out ScottURNot's Garrett Twin GT2871R ceramic dual ball bearing turbo kit w/TiAL BOV, Intercooler and all piping already fabbed- This is the BEST deal you're gonna find unless you make the piping yourself, and this kit can be run on a factory engine: Link
(Actually it's a better deal than making all the piping yourself because of all the hours of labor you will save.) Power potential is better w/a TT setup, oh, and you'll win lots of shows considering how sick TWO turbos look, compared to a supercharger.

I think there is allready a lengthy thread on this topic, I may merge them together. Anyway, Both are great and have benifits. TT will cost more normally, unless you pick up the very lightly used system in the the FS section then its a no brainer.

BTW, TT will give you more power since you are using a stock motor. You have to make a extra 60-80HP to turn the supercharger so on a stock motor TT is the only way for the best power.

I know that superchargers are parasitic, but just curious what you mean here. It seems like you mean if you make an extra 100HP with your supercharger, then powering the supercharger is going to cost you 60 to 80% of that leaving you with a 20-40 HP gain?
