The independent oiling system wouldnt work because the pump they provide wouldnt be able to recirculate the oil independently. They sell theres for $325 and he said they last about 50k miles.
I guess the boost dependant rising fuel pressure regulator would be fine for tuning but he had mentioned something about tuning the timing. Anybody know anything about that with the SC400?

im searching now. ill post what i find out. if your just trying to run 8lbs boost i wonder if the trans will be able to handle it. if i dont let off it will go all the way to redline if i let it and i really dont like doing that at all.

Check out this link for the oil pump: http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/oilsystems.htm. It seems Tilton makes good oil pump in this situation. As with most pumps, it shouldn't run dry at anytime. Therefore, it should be located as close to the oil source as possible, which means the turbo. There's no need to retard the timing below 11 psi of boost. But the FMU (dependent fuel pressure regulator) shouldn't be used for more than 9 psi.

The tranny will be happy to take 8 psi of boost all day long. I never had any problem up to 13 psi. But make sure you have a big tranny cooler. 1 thing that's usually omitted is the torque converter should be upgraded to handle the torque. If the torque converter breaks, it'll toss the whole tranny with it. I have upgraded the torque converter from the beginning, so I can't tell at what boost the stock torque converter can handle. I'd think at least 7-8 psi.

When you boost, it is imperative to tune. In tuning, you adjust the fuel, and oxygen levels to match the power you are trying to create on an increasing scale, dependant upon boost levels. You also need to asjust timimg with the computer. You are very limited with these adjustments with the stock motor, in fact, you must integrate some kind of piggy-back ECU to do so, and you are still limited. The best way to go is a stand alone, which gives much flexibility, but also much more cost, and complexity.

I'm at work so I cant search too long but what ecu's are recommended? I seen WOLF 3d on sale for about $2k but I'm concerned with what my tuner is familure with.
Are there any ecu's that will NOT work with the 1uz, I dont want him to suggest something and find out its not working after I bought it. I would hope he would be stand up enough to take it back. I seen some AEM ecus where used, are they 2jz model units?

I've been using the RB racing scavenge pump for the past 6 months (around 1500mi) with no issues so far. My last Tilton pump lasted a whole month on my last remote mount project so I would steer clear of them. I'm still running an FMU with a TT fuel pump and there is definitely a lot more to be desired. Stand alone will be the way to go when funds allow. Keep in mind whatever psi spring your running in your waste gate will yield you give or take -2 psi (depending on piping efficiency) by the time it reach's your engine due to the plethora of piping. I'm running about 7psi and not having any major issues as of yet (finger x'd). Keep in mind that running a remote mount turbo isn't as cheap/easy as you'd think. If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought Scott/UZZTT's turbo kit in the classifieds. Custom fabrication makes the simplest tasks a major pain and I was fortunate enough to have a lift, in house welding, pipe bending, and good mechanical friends with plenty of knowledge at my disposal. On the positive, the remote mount turbo rumble really turns heads and sounds like no other turbo vehicle out there!

I could only imagine what that sounds like in person.
