IS 98 GE motor with VVT-i interference?
Guys,
As above, is the motor in a 98 SC300 an interference motor or no? I know 97 below they weren't, but didn't know if the VVT-i changed that?? Thanks, Jonny |
Nope, still non-interference, unless you do aftermarket cams, some aftermarket cams will make them interference.

I've done work on several, and trust me its a non-interference motor. I did cam profiling for GSC Power Division and we did several combo's. Stock the 2JZ VVTi is non interference.

Where the Hell is Tres at on this one? Mr 2j dictionary himself...:D

VVTi is an interference engine, my pistons hit my valves while gently rotating my crank, i hope nobody focks his engine after this thread!!

I also recall seeing something about interference in the shop manual that's specifically made for 98-2000 SC300 (big ass encyclopedia). Maybe i'll dig it up tomorrow to confirm. I should replace my timing belt soon, however, i don't have the VVTi bottom anymore, I have GTE bottom now:) otherwise i would have confirmed
