Default 1jzgte single turbo suggestions..please

yes i did my searching for a good while on various sites. I just want peoples real world experiences with various single turbo setups on 1jz's.

example:t4 60-1, 409 @ 16psi full boost 3200 rpm,..... something like that

My goals are 380whp at around 15psi and like 450whp at like 19psi and something thats not to laggy for a daily driver. Like full boost at 3500-3800

I can get a great deal on a gt4088 from my good friend but i think that its probably going to be to laggy for my taste.

Let me know what you guys think

I'm looking to put together a really sick single turbo setup and let's just say that i'm luck to have some GREAT resources available! I'm really looking to either make or get a really nice T4 manifold.... I already decided to run one of our Billet 6265's... Just need to decide on a manifold. I refuse to use an ebay manifold....

use the ebay manifold, why spend 10x the price? 1jz/2jz manifolds work great from ebay.

Expect an ebay manifold to crack fairly quick if braces arent welded on.

A perfect turbo for what your looking for would be a Garrett GT35R
They worth excellent for 350 to 600 horsepower!

I have a T78 on my 1JZ and its definatly laggy but thats what i like!

A GT4088 is going to be too large as well. It would be ok for a 2JZGTE but it wont meet your wants for the spool capabilities... But if you can get it for cheap then you can swap with someone else.

DO NOT EVER USE ANY EBAY TURBOS! THEY USUALLY CRAP OUT WITHIN 100 MILES!!!!!

where is ur proof?

thier nothing wrong with ebay manifold peroid there just knock off greddy and the manifold will only break if the weld is crap. most of the supra community is trying to cut cost cause of this recession i am running my second ebay manifold and turbo combo in a 1.5jz swapped car so i beg to differ. there are great parts on ebay to be found u forget ebay is just a company but with out sellers they woudent exsits.

more greddy's break than ebay, but keep spreading the misinformation.

ebay 4-cylinder manifolds are the ones that break

GT40R with 35R internals and a .83 AR should be good, This would support quick spool but net a good lower to middle range power. i was planning on using this turbo setup but im going another route.

twin GT25R over a single in the case of spool time. i think it should net about 500 HP. im planning on goin with a gt25 front and gt28 rear. i just love the look of the twin turbos!

GT35R or new Billett 6262 would work great with your 1J! You would have the best of both worlds, great spool and ability to make good power! IMO, I wouldn't go with a .81 backhousing for what you're looking for. This would kill your turbo spool. That's just my $.02..

Also, to add to Cherplex's post, you might want to look into a Drewgo manifold, he's been around the game and his product has been proven both in the Supra and Lexus World of performance and his manifolds are affordable! He's on the forum so you can send him a PM, his screen name is Drewgo.

Good luck!

So what do you guys think the characteristics of the gt4088 with a .81 would be on the 1jz? Maybe I could live with full boost in the early to mid 4k range.
